Residential C&D Waste Study
The H-GAC contracted with the Houston Advanced Research Center to study C&D waste in residential new construction. The report conducted 2004-2005 examines the C&D literature, national trends, local trends, legislation, barriers, and opportunities. The report has many citations from reports and studies conducted from around the nation (many of these are included in the case studies section). The report includes more than 85 color digital photographs taken during the study period of the two C&D waste audit residences, a worksheet economic calculator and the narrative of the examination of the two custom built residence's waste streams including the use of the economic work sheet calculator and the actual results of the waste stream analysis. The report also provides an in field trial of on-site grinding of C&D waste as an alternative to landfilling the waste material. Finally, the report also includes recommendations for training, education, and legislation.

This study was prepared in cooperation with the Houston-Galveston Area Council and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality by the Houston Advanced Research Center.
